The opportunity As Manager, Web Application Development, you will lead a large team responsible for the design, development, support and ongoing improvement of a broad portfolio of web applications used across the University. This includes systems that support research, education, administration, student experience and staff experience, giving you the opportunity to influence technology that has meaningful reach across a complex institution. You’ll provide technical and people leadership across a diverse engineering environment, guiding architecture, uplifting software development practices, and helping teams deliver secure, scalable and user-centred solutions. This is a role for someone who can combine strong software engineering depth with stakeholder engagement, team leadership and a practical understanding of how to deliver in a large organisation. What you’ll do Lead the delivery, support and continuous improvement of the University’s web applications and websites. Guide architecture, engineering standards and modern development practices across a diverse technology stack. Manage and mentor a team of developers and technical specialists, building capability and performance. Partner with stakeholders across ICT and the University to translate needs into practical, scalable solutions. Oversee prioritisation, incident management, delivery coordination and quality outcomes across the portfolio. What we’re looking for Str o ng experience leading software or web development teams in a complex ICT environment. Deep understanding of modern software engineering, architecture and Agile delivery practices. Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences. Experience improving engineering standards, delivery processes and team capability. B ackground in higher education, government or another complex environment will be valued. What’s in it for you?
