* Remuneration: Level B from $127,947, Level C from $155,403 + 17% superannuation and annual leave loading

About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic legal practitioner or former practitioner with a strong commitment to shaping the next generation of lawyers for admission. This role offers an opportunity to apply professional experience to the development of new lawyers through UNSW's Graduate Diploma in Legal Professional Practice (GDLPP), the University's Practical Legal Training (PLT) program.
The position focuses on preparing graduates for professional life by connecting legal education directly to current practice. Working alongside practitioner mentors and industry partners, this role will support students' development of practical skills, professional judgement and ethical awareness as they transition into the profession. It also includes the integration of work‑integrated learning (WIL), AI‑enhanced practice tools and practitioner‑led mentoring to ensure UNSW's PLT program remains a national leader in professional legal education.
The Education Focused position sits within the School of Law, Society & Criminology in the Faculty of Law & Justice. It will play a central role in delivering and coordinating PLT core and elective courses for both the general cohort and UNSW's unique sponsored partnership model with top‑tier law firms. The role reports to the Head of School for Law, Society & Criminology and has no direct reports.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
* Deliver core and elective PLT courses to the general cohort and partner law firm trainees.
* Coordinate PLT scheduling, resources, and participant engagement.
* Integrate work‑integrated learning and AI practice tools into curriculum delivery.
* Mentor students and junior practitioners, fostering professional development.
* Support student equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
* Maintain up‑to‑date discipline knowledge and contribute to curriculum improvement.
* Collate and report on teaching quality metrics, student outcomes, and practitioner feedback.
Qualifications and Skills
Level B
* Tertiary qualifications in law, with admission as a legal practitioner in Australia and 3‑5 years post‑admission experience.
* Evidence of teaching/practice experience in two or more legal disciplines.
* Up‑to‑date discipline knowledge and professional development.
* Experience using practice technologies and online delivery methods.
* Highly developed organisational skills and ability to deliver in a fast‑paced environment.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Experience in mentoring/supervising junior practitioners or law graduates.
* Commitment to student wellbeing and support student transition.
* Ability to support students from diverse backgrounds and promote equity, diversity and inclusion.
Level C (Additional)
* Demonstrated success in developing practice education and improvement.
* Evidence of professional development of teaching practice and ability to lead inclusive learning culture.
* Ability to engage the profession and attract funding for learning and teaching initiatives.
* Commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives and values, and relevant policies.
* Knowledge of health & safety responsibilities and commitment to attending training.
