**Detailed Description**
**About the Role**
The Head of Capital Works assists the Director with strategic leadership and management of the Unit.
The position is responsible for all project design and construction activity, financial feasibility, legal and commercial advice and budget management for all capital works, new developments, and refurbishment projects across the campus and its satellites. They are accountable for capital works deliverables achieved through the leadership and management of a diverse range of UTS professional, technical and administrative staff and external consultant and contractors

The UTS Property Unit is situated within the Chief Operating Officer's portfolio.
In order to achieve the most efficient use of university resources and to best meet teaching, research and community service requirements its responsibilities include:
- Management of all campus infrastructure and facilities for operational reliability
- Planning and delivering the future built environment to align with forecast infrastructure requirements
- Implementation and management of the student focussed retail service strategy
- Space utilisation analysis, management, reporting and forecasting

- In partnership with the Director, develop strategic directions, priorities and delivery tactics for the Unit, ensuring strategies are aligned with Unit and University strategic priorities.
- Develop and deliver operational plans and outcomes for the Capital Works Team. Manage the day-to-day operations, including financial and budget activities and other operational or programmatic activities.
- Develop thought leadership around relevant policy and emerging practice and areas
- Manage team activities to ensure all projects and reports are delivered consistent with expectations and within approvals
- Maximise the use of the University's physical infrastructure by developing and coordinating effective capital works processes
