Do you want to be part of growing a local health workforce for the Far North Queensland Tablelands communities? Then this is the role for you

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for extension subject to future funding availability.

Health Workforce Queensland is a not for profit, non-Government Rural Workforce Agency for primary health workforce in Queensland, focused on making sure remote, rural, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island communities have access to highly skilled health professionals when and where they need them, now and into the future.

The Future Workforce Team connect with undergraduate medical, nursing & midwifery, dentistry and allied health students to incentivise rural career pathways through a variety of strategies, including GROW Rural an end-to-end health workforce solution program, placement bursaries, interactive webinars and links with university Rural Health Clubs.

The purpose of the role is to Increase health workforce capacity by advancing structured workforce pathways into primary healthcare settings in Atherton, Mareeba and surrounding communities.

The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

* Coordinate HWQ's flagship workforce solution program, GROW Rural engagement activities with FNQ health services, practitioners, and community stakeholders
* Build and maintain relationships with local healthcare practices to identify workforce gaps and co-design responsive solutions.
* Strengthen collaboration between university placement coordinators, health services, and clinical supervisors to increase clinical placements in FNQ
* Increase clinical placement opportunities for health students in FNQ, with a focus on primary care
* Support practices to host student placements and strengthen supervision and mentoring capacity
* Assist practices in employing early career graduates, including GROW Rural NQ alumni
* Collaborate with HWQ's Health Workforce Solutions team to help fill primary care vacancies and support retention
* Provide tailored support to students and new health professionals to assist with community integration
* Develop relationships with local high schools to promote rural health careers and coordinate engagement activities
* Participate in stakeholder engagement, networking events, and promotional activities
* Promote the role and its impact through presentations and local/social media
