We seek an experienced and detail-oriented General Accountant to oversee a range of financial, accounting and automated HR functions at Fresh Meats. This role is responsible for managing payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, BAS preparation and lodgement, compliance, and other core accounting duties. The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated, has a strong understanding of accounting practices, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment. This person is comfortable and motivated to interact with team leaders from multiple departments in a manufacturing setting (production factory floors, cold rooms, etc.) to achieve results, not just from a computer and desk.

Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Management
* Process weekly payroll accurately and on time for all employees
* Ensure compliance with Meat Industry awards, superannuation, PAYG tax, and leave entitlements, and child support
* Payroll-related reporting
Accounts Payable
* Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments
* Perform supplier reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
* Maintain accurate accounts payable records
Accounts Receivable
* Supervise the process for daily customer invoicing
* Supervise the process of customer accounts and follow up on outstanding payments
* Supervise and resolve the issues related to reconciling customer accounts and handling credit control procedures
* Maintain accurate records of receipts and credit notes
* Customer sales and receivable aging reporting
BAS & Compliance
· Prepare and lodge monthly Business Activity Statements (BAS), monthly payroll tax, and other statutory reports.
· Ensure compliance with ATO and other relevant regulatory requirements
· Monitor GST, PAYG, and superannuation obligations
Fixed Assets
· Maintain updated fixed asset register and fixed asset tagging
· Manage maintenance records
· Assist in sale advertising and sale of redundant assets
General Accounting Duties
* Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
* Maintain the general ledger and reconcile balance sheet accounts
* Support financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting as required
* Liaison with other department managers
* Liaise with external accountants, tax agents, and auditors
* Maintain insurance policies
Collaborative HR Administration
* Onboard new hires through automated process (online induction, contracts, etc.)
* Collaborate with HR/RRTWC to oversee efficient Workcover and return to work process
* Administer other automated HR processes
* Ensure seamless documentation between payroll and HR

Key Requirements:
* Willingness to work closely with team leaders to achieve wage budgets
* Proactive involvement in factory/warehouse setting to achieve results for stocktake/yield measurements, not just from a computer/office
* 4+ years of experience in a similar accounting or finance role
* Strong working knowledge of payroll, accounts payable, receivable, and BAS processes
* Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero
* Understanding of Australian award rate, payroll, PAYG and superannuation compliance
* Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Cooperation with overseas finance team
* Qualifications in Accounting or Finance
