We are seeking an experienced Assistant Financial Accountant to join our team in the beautiful Scenic Rim.
Kalfresh is an innovative, fast-growing Queensland horticultural company, focused on farming, processing, and marketing fresh conventional and certified organic vegetables across Australia and select export markets. Our head office is situated in Kalbar.
The Opportunity
As part of the finance team, you will contribute to the daily achievements and success of Kalfresh by maintaining adequate levels of integrity and accuracy within the financial accounting records and internal controls. You will learn and apply your knowledge in the Australian Accounting Standards particularly in terms of the application of accounting concepts in financial statements and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
* Gather and analyse financial data, prepare balance sheet reconciliations and profit & loss reports.
* Conducting accurate data entry including general journal posting.
* Assistance in maintaining up-to-date end of month tasks including raising accruals and prepayments.
* Support with processing batch payment runs.
* Assist with preparation of KPI reports
* Identify and support process improvements and general accounting clear up.
* Investigating and re-coding payments and GST related transactions.
* Assisting with preparation of statutory returns
* Maintain and review of fixed asset and debt registers.
* Assisting in the implementation and maintenance of internal controls, as well as providing support during internal and external compliance audits.
* Provide support with general ledger maintenance and monthly financial reporting & year end
* Assisting the team in preparing statutory reports and compliance documentation.
* Support the finance manager in preparing management reports.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* A minimum of 2-3 years' experience in a similar role. Experience in the agricultural sector would be an advantage.
* Tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance would be advantageous
* Willingness and ability to learn new software.
* Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, with proven attention to detail and accuracy.
* Demonstrated ability to be organised, prioritise work, manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
* Ability to collaborate with a small team
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
* Exposure to Microsoft Office products (e.g. MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel)
* Netsuite experience would be highly desirable but not required.
