Job Title: Mental Health Specialist

Working within the Suicide Prevention Team, this role involves delivering support to individuals in a warm and welcoming environment. Collaborating with a small team of peer workers and clinicians, we aim for a 'no wrong door' approach to ensure people have access to the support they need.

The position requires working within a predominantly clinical setting, involving the Suicide Prevention Service. Clinicians will deliver support that aligns with the principles of step up/step down care, including referrals to community-based services for ongoing support or escalating concerns over consumer wellbeing to relevant clinical services for follow up. This will also involve health promotion activities.

Team members will be rostered to both SPOT or Safe Haven services dependent on availability and service need. The service operates 5 days a week from Thursday to Monday from 1:30PM-10:00PM with the potential of moving to a 7 day service. After hours, evenings and weekend work will be a requirement of the role.

Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver support to individuals experiencing or recovering from suicidal distress
- Work collaboratively with a small team of peer workers and clinicians
- Provide referrals to community-based services for ongoing support
- Escalate concerns over consumer wellbeing to relevant clinical services as needed
- Participate in health promotion activities

Requirements:
- Experience working within a clinical setting
- Ability to work collaboratively with a small team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to provide support and referrals as needed
