We are partnering with a well established mining operation known for its strong safety culture, commitment to sustainability and long history within the Queensland resources sector. The business operates both underground and open cut assets, including a major rehabilitation project, and prides itself on fostering a collaborative, high performing workforce. As part of their continued growth, they are seeking a Mine Site Accountant to join the finance team.
About the Role
Reporting to the Finance Superintendent, you will support all site financial activities including budgeting, forecasting, month end processes and financial analysis. You'll act as a business partner to department leaders, guiding cost performance and supporting continuous improvement across the operation.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare inputs for monthly accounting cycles and financial reporting
* Produce site cost reports, analysis and provide cost management support to department leaders
* Partner with operational teams to facilitate cost meetings and follow up on variance actions
* Support business improvement initiatives, cost reduction projects and financial process enhancements
* Contribute to monthly forecasts, annual budgets and performance presentations
* Assist with audit requirements, capital applications, budgeting and asset capitalisation
* Support commercial training for stakeholders and assist with broader finance tasks as required
About You
* Minimum 2 years' experience in a mine site accounting or similar operational finance role
* Accounting degree or currently undertaking CPA/CA qualification
* Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail
* Ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
* Proficient in SAP or other ERP systems
* Strategic thinker with a problem solving mindset and process improvement focus
