NDIS Appeals Officer – Overview
Brain Injury SA is seeking to appoint a NDIS Appeals Officer to join our team. The position is available full time or part time (minimum 22.5 hours per week) fixed term until December 2026 initially, with the possibility of extension depending on funding.
Responsibilities
* Provide impartial and confidential support to anyone seeking a review of a decision made by the NDIA.
* Explain the review process, including what is involved in appealing to the ART.
* Provide assistance with preparing documents, including applications for external merits review and legal assistance funding.
* Assist applicants to self‐advocate.
* Attend ART conferences and hearings to support applicants.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have excellent written and verbal communication skills; well‐developed time management and organisational skills. We are looking for applicants who can demonstrate an understanding of social justice, disability and human rights. Knowledge of relevant legislation, rules, guidelines and understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will be highly regarded. Some intrastate and interstate travel may be required. This role would be well suited to a person with qualifications in Law, Social Work or Developmental Education.
