What is the focus of the role?
As a Constructor Repairer, you will undertake a broad range of end-to-end tasks constructing Optical Fibre cable networks inclusive of onsite management tasks. Supporting your Senior Optical splicer with onsite planning and job preparation. Help deliver and manage daily tasks inclusive of Stakeholder Management (Project Manager, Design and Line Management), Resourcing, CMART planned events and Project Material Consolidation.
This is an 18-month fixed term opportunity
(18 nights working away with 10 nights home)
About the Role
* Undertake a range of Optical Fibre Jointing tasks to build Optical Fibre Telecommunications network infrastructure ensuring compliance with documented processes (TM00044 and associated subsets) and procedures.
* Assist with testing of Optical Fibre Cable whilst ensuring we continue to develop and further enhance our overall capabilities with tasks associated with optical fibre testing.
* Develop skills in developing workbooks and analysis knowledge of fibre traces.
* As the teams Optical Fibre Jointer support your Crew Leader to Plan, Prepare and communicate openly and honestly with accurate updates.
* Participate in your own development to ensure the teams capacity to deliver projects through any setbacks encountered.
* Provide relevant, accurate information along with any assistance to members of your team and key stakeholders associated with the project.
* You will work independently or within a team environment contributing to the delivery of a market leading level of service to our customers by ensuring all work is undertaken in a timely and cost-effective manner, meets quality standards and customer expectations.
* You will establish and maintain effective working relationships with your peers and key internal and external stakeholders relevant to the achievement of business performance objectives
* Maintain accurate records and communicate changes to design via Leading Operative.
* Liaise with and aid sub-contractors as required when onsite.
* All work is performed in Regional and Remote locations working a structured and planned 18 nights/10 night roster (FIFO and DIDO essential)
* Always maintain network integrity. 'Always on'
* Understanding and ability to demonstrate compliance with the Telstra Values, Telstra Code of Conduct and Telstra policies and procedures
* HSE Responsibility: Take reasonable care for your own safety and the safety of others, comply with and implement any reasonable Telstra HSE instruction, policy, standard, minimum requirement or procedure, and support Telstra to meet its duties under the relevant safety and environmental
About You
* Experience in Slotted Core Optical Fibre and Copper Cable jointing (desirable but not essential)
* Experience working with Network elements, Optical Distribution Frames, High Density ODF inside Telstra Exchange environment or Customer IT/Comms room.
* Exchange Rack Construction skills and knowledge
* Experience with testing fibre and the creation workbooks desirable but not essential. Training will be provided.
* Experience in Optical Fibre Jointing.
* Experience in building Joint Enclosures.
* Truck Licence, Heavy Rigid (HR).
* Experience in Optic Fibre hauling, Pit & Pipe construction
* Comprehensive knowledge of the relevant construction processes, technical standards, practices, and knowledge of TM 00044, TRMR359.
