Residential & Commercial Property | Commercial Law Exposure | Hybrid Working
Barrett + Co Legal is seeking a skilled and client‑focused Property Lawyer to join our growing team. If you have at least two years' post‑admission experience and enjoy the variety of residential property, commercial property, and general commercial work, this role offers the chance to deepen your expertise within a supportive, modern firm.
About the Role
You'll work across a mix of residential property, commercial property, and general commercial law matters, providing clear, practical advice and delivering smooth, timely outcomes for clients. You'll be mentored and supported by an experienced team and modern workflows that help you do your best work.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Managing residential and commercial property files from contract review through to settlement
* Advising clients on risks, contract terms, and transaction steps
* Preparing and reviewing contracts, leases, transfer documents, and settlement materials
* Conducting PEXA settlements and liaising with agents, lenders, conveyancers, and commercial stakeholders
* Assisting with general commercial matters such as business sales and commercial agreements
* Ensuring compliance and maintaining high‑quality client communication
About You
You're a property lawyer who brings strong technical grounding, clear communication, and a steady, client‑centred approach.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
* 2+ years PQE with experience in residential property settlements
* Exposure to or genuine interest in general commercial law (business sales, commercial contracts and advisory work)
* Strong understanding of Victorian property law and conveyancing processes
* Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
* A proactive, organised approach and a collaborative mindset
