About your opportunity: The focus of this role is to deliver high level, contemporary, evidence informed Occupational Therapy assessment, short term transitional supports and referrals to long term supports eg. the National Disability Insurance Scheme, for children with developmental delay/disability and their families utilising a child and family centred framework. This role also provides leadership and mentoring to support growth of capability in paediatric Occupational Therapy and transdisciplinary paediatric practice within the Child Development Service and across the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service as required. About your role: Implement and monitor the organisation's quality standards, work health and safety policies, procedures and programs and provide clinical governance in the relevant work area. Utilise high level Occupational Therapy paediatric knowledge, expertise, clinical decision making and risk management skills to provide safe and efficient service delivery on a daily basis within a multidisciplinary / transdisciplinary team, with infrequent need for direct clinical practice supervision. Apply professional judgement with high level case management skills to support a complex caseload independently adapting routine clinical practice based on valid and reliable evidence to establish and deliver efficient and effective client-centred services. Lead Occupational Therapy and other clinical projects and research activities within the Child Development Service and contribute to other programmes as requested. Provide professional and clinical practice supervision, education, mentoring and assisting with core capability training and skill development to less experienced Occupational Therapists, other Health Practitioners, support staff and students within scope of practice guidelines to ensure the development and maintenance of professional clinical standards.
