Job Description
3. Lead systems and/or software engineering activities across complex rail and transport projects
4. Manage system requirements, traceability, interfaces and integration across the full project lifecycle
5. Drive delivery of system architecture, functional design and integration outcomes
6. Plan, execute and support factory and site testing, including verification and validation activities
7. Contribute to rail safety assurance activities, including RAMS analysis and safety documentation
8. Apply systems engineering standards and best practices to ensure compliant, reliable solutions
9. Support continuous improvement of engineering standards, processes and methodologies
10. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, vendors and client stakeholders
11. Prepare clear, concise technical documentation, reports and engineering deliverables
12. Share lessons learned and technical knowledge across projects to improve efficiency and outcomes
The Successful Applicant
What You'll Need to Succeed
13. Degree qualification in Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline
14. Proven experience as a Principal Systems Engineer and/or Senior Software Engineer within rail or transport projects
15. Strong understanding of systems engineering principles across the project lifecycle
16. Experience applying standards such as ISO/IEC 15288 and ISO/IEC 24748‐1 (rail environment preferred)
17. Rail safety assurance experience, including CENELEC standards and safety case development
18. RAMS experience, particularly EN 50126
19. Strong system integration and interface management experience
20. Ability to contribute to verification, validation, factory and site testing activities
21. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders
22. Strong technical documentation and report‐writing skills
Highly Regarded
23. Experience in ETCS and/or CBTC rail environments
24. Background in safety‐critical or mission‐critical software systems
25. Membership or eligibility for professional bodies such as INCOSE, SESA or similar
