Position Details
The Teacher reports to the Principal and works collaboratively with all staff. They are responsible for developing and maintaining learning and social inclusion responses on the campus. This includes but is not limited to:
1. Planning, preparation, and delivery of engaging learning and teaching programs for young people in the middle and secondary phases of secondary education, creating flexible, innovative curriculum to engage students, including project-based learning and engagement activities.
2. Planning and effectively implementing class and individual student learning programs that meet all legislative requirements with respect to young people with learning difficulties and disabilities, including:
1. Collating NCCD data and evidence to improve young people’s outcomes.
2. Setting goals and implementing targeted adjustments for Young People IEPs, monitoring progress, and reviewing strategies.
3. Building learning programs that reflect the diversity within the classroom and designing learning experiences that cater to individuals with specific needs.
4. Ensuring young people are provided with a learning program that maximizes their outcomes (academically, behaviorally, and/or socially) through the development of Individual Learning Plans for each young person and contributing to the ongoing evaluation of the ILP process.
5. Contributing to the development and implementation of the FLS’s objectives and planning.
6. Contributing to the establishment and maintenance of a supportive school environment.
Selection Criteria
• Understanding of and commitment to the values of a Catholic educational system of schools in the Edmund Rice tradition.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience working with young people disenfranchised from mainstream education.
• Skills and knowledge in teaching processes, framework, and practice.
• Applicants must hold or have the ability to attain a WA Working with Children Check before commencement as per legislation.
• Local travel (including minivan driving) is a requirement of this position; therefore, it is required that the applicant hold a current 'C' driver’s license and be able to drive a bus.
• Current First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
• All staff are expected to implement self-care strategies and access organizational staff support whenever needed.
