Role purpose
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Operations Manager to support the Operations Manager in ensuring the efficient and effective day-to-day operations of our centre. This pivotal role contributes to the maintenance of high standards in safety, compliance, cleanliness, emergency preparedness, and overall operational performance.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure the optimal functioning of all building services and the delivery of a superior customer experience.
Please note: This role is an initial fixed term contract ending on 26th Feb 2027
This role also required a 1 in 6 weekend and late trade shift, with a day off in lieu.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Support & Compliance
* Assist in managing operational contracts to ensure value for expenditure.
* Maintain contract documentation and monitor performance through regular KPI reviews.
* Support day-to-day supplier management across services such as cleaning, security, HVAC, and vertical transport.
* Maintain maintenance logs and support the delivery of capital projects.
* Ensure compliance with safety regulations, emergency procedures, and essential safety measures.
* Assist in implementing Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives focused on energy efficiency and sustainability.
Stakeholder & Retailer Engagement
* Foster and maintain effective relationships with contractors, retailers, local council, and emergency services.
* Support tenant onboarding and manage operational issues raised by retailers.
* Represent the centre in meetings with National Operations and participate in relevant forums.
Administrative Duties
* Contribute to the preparation of reports, forecasts, and budget documentation.
* Assist in the administration of Vision, Strategy & Action Plans.
* Maintain oversight of risk registers and ensure appropriate documentation is in place for HSE audits.
Essential Experience
* Prior experience in an operational support role within a retail or mixed-use property environment.
* Proven ability to contribute to project delivery within budget and timeframe constraints.
* Familiarity with safety audits, risk registers, and emergency procedures.
* Experience managing service contracts, including cleaning and security.
* Demonstrated ability to support cost management and operational planning activities.
Key Knowledge
* Understanding of contractor management and compliance processes.
* Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
* Knowledge of building services, including maintenance scheduling for plant and equipment.
* Awareness of sustainability practices and their integration into operational strategies.
