Sales and Marketing Officer

This is a temporary full-time position (13 July 2026 – 13 August 2027).

Are you a creative, data-driven marketing professional with a passion for live events and audience engagement? This is your opportunity to play a key role in shaping the success of performances, events and experiences at the Mackay Entertainment & Convention Centre (MECC) and associated venues.

Reporting to the Sales & Business Development Coordinator, the Sales and Marketing Officer is responsible for planning, delivering and optimising end-to-end marketing and sales strategies for MECC events and venues. You'll leverage insights, creativity and digital innovation to maximise ticket sales and attendance, while maintaining brand integrity and supporting a diverse and dynamic events program.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead the development and execution of integrated marketing campaigns and oversee the production of marketing collateral, including media releases, newsletters, EDMs, paid advertising promotional displays, and engagement activities, ensuring alignment with brand standards and campaign objectives.
* Maximise event revenue and attendance by achieving agreed ticket sales targets using data-driven insights, including analytics, reporting, surveys and audience feedback.
* Monitor, analyse and report on marketing performance across the MECC and associated venues, tracking ROI, trends and variances, and applying insights to optimise future campaigns.
* Oversee marketing campaign budgets, including purchase orders, invoicing and reconciliations, ensuring accurate cost tracking and alignment with financial targets, and contributing to advertising budget forecasts.
* In collaboration with the MECC Engagement & Marketing Officer, manage and optimise the MECC's digital presence by maintaining website content and overseeing social media platforms to promote events, venue operations and audience engagement.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, industry partners, media, promoters and sponsors to support successful event delivery and encourage repeat business opportunities.
* Ensure compliance with statutory requirements under the Ticketing Code of Conduct in the promotion of events and dissemination of event information.
* Provide ticketing support to Box Office staff, including facilitating ticket sales, providing accurate show information and operational guidance, and assisting the Sales & Business Development Coordinator with show information and destination marketing activities.

About You

* Qualifications in Marketing, Public Relations or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
* Working with Children Blue Card (essential)
* QLD 'C' class driver's licence (or interstate equivalent)
* Ability to work a five-day roster across seven days
* Flexibility to work hours aligned with MECC operational requirements
* Experience in social media management and marketing campaign delivery
* Strong analytical, reporting and CRM skills
* High attention to detail across written and digital content
* Well-developed software skills including Microsoft Office, desktop publishing (InDesign and Photoshop), and website maintenance
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
* The ability to work independently, adapt to changing environments and contribute positively within a team

Desirable Experience Includes

* Experience in arts, entertainment, hospitality or public relations sectors
* Experience in youth and/or community engagement
