We’re partnering with a well-established Australian SaaS product company to help them grow their engineering team. This is a permanent role working on a mature, business-critical platform used at scale, where engineering quality, performance and maintainability genuinely matter. Depending on experience, this role could suit a strong mid-level engineer looking to step up, or a more senior engineer who enjoys mentoring and contributing to technical direction. The role You’ll be part of a collaborative product-led engineering team, working across the design, development and optimisation of modern web applications. The focus is on building reliable, scalable systems while continuously improving existing functionality. Day-to-day, you’ll be involved in: Developing and maintaining backend services and APIs Working closely with front-end engineers, product and QA Improving performance, scalability and security of existing systems Participating in code reviews and contributing to engineering standards Supporting releases, documentation and ongoing system improvement Mentoring less experienced engineers (where appropriate) What we’re looking for We’re open on exact background, but ideally, you’ll bring a mix of the following: Solid experience building production web applications Strong backend development experience with PHP and Laravel Experience working with relational databases (e.g. MySQL) and data-driven systems Exposure to front-end technologies such as React (or similar) Experience building and consuming REST APIs Good understanding of version control, CI/CD and modern development practices A pragmatic, collaborative approach to problem-solving Bonus points for experience with: Docker and cloud platforms (AWS or similar) Automated testing and performance optimisation Working on large or long-lived SaaS platforms Why consider it?
