The Senior Commercial Supplier Manager is the primary commercial architect responsible for translating the Group's commercial strategy into tangible P&L wins.
Reporting to the Head of Commercial Relationships, this role bridges the gap between high‐level governance and brand‐level execution.
You will manage the "One Version of the Truth" for suppliers across two retail banners, ensuring that scale is leveraged, margin is protected through a "negotiate and offset" mentality, and all negotiated funds are accurately captured in the P&L.
Responsibilities
* Negotiate & Offset: Proactively lead high‐stakes negotiations to offset supplier cost‐increase requests, shifting from reactive cost management.
* CPI Process: Lead accurate and smooth CPI reviews across all retail brands.
* JBP Coordination: Help categories translate Group growth strategies into aligned Joint Business Plans (JBPs) with key suppliers.
* Cost Price Validation: Technically lead cost‐price validation, challenging supplier justifications using "Should‐Cost" models before they reach Merchandise teams.
* Standard Trading Conditions (STCs): Enforce STCs in all negotiations to ensure consistency and prevent commercial "leakage."
* Optimised Terms: Draft and refine supplier contracts to maximise rebates and settlement terms.
* Audit & Recovery: Conduct cross‐category gap analyses to identify and secure missed funding or unclaimed supplier support, ensuring 100% P&L realisation.
* Parity Management: Ensure supplier transparency across both banners; eliminate inconsistent terms to leverage Group scale.
* Equitable Investment: Manage financial support flow across the portfolio, aligning distribution with volume and strategic importance to prevent internal competition.
* Commercial Intelligence: Feed real‐time market and commodity insights to the HoCR and Brand teams to enhance negotiation playbooks.
* Support to the HoCR: Provide expert guidance to Brand Merchandise teams, ensuring brand decisions align with Group financial guardrails.
* Financial Accuracy: Collaborate with Finance to ensure merchandise margin accuracy and provide high‐fidelity forecasting for supplier income.
* Decision Support: Offer actionable insights to Brand GMs and HoCR on supplier P&L.
