Your future role:
Alstom is seeking an Industrial and Employee Relations Specialist located at our site in West Melbourne, to undertake a variety of work advocating for and guiding our front-line leadership team on managing their employment related issues. Reporting to the ANZ Manager Industrial & Employee Relations, in this autonomous role, you will be responsible for the management of Alstom’s employee relations issues and employee investigations. You will join a close knit human resources team who foster a culture of collaboration and service excellence. As the industrial and employee relations specialist, you will manage your own caseload, providing fast-paced and high quality ER advice, coaching and investigation support to our line leaders and HR team.
Responsibilities:
- Managing your own caseload, providing fast-paced and high quality ER advice, coaching and investigation support to our line leaders
- Conducting end to end investigations into a variety of ER matters from grievances through to significant bullying, harassment, fraud or misconduct cases
- Preparing documents and responses for matters before the Fair Work Commission and other tribunals
- Representing Alstom at conciliations and dispute matters in the Fair Work Commission and other tribunals
- Managing complex matters involving ill and injured team members
- Supporting EA negotiations with employee and union bargaining representatives
- Providing leaders with training, recommendations, coaching and advice in relation to legislation, policies and procedures
- Monitoring industry trends, legislative updates, and tribunal decisions to inform proactive, compliant, and effective workplace relations strategies
About you:
- Experience within a human resources generalist, employee and industrial relations professional position across medium to large size organisations
- Proven background in managing or supporting investigations into misconduct, grievances or protected disclosures
- Excellent coaching, negotiation and influencing skills, to engage with a wide range of stakeholders
- Sound knowledge and understanding of relevant ER/IR legislation within different jurisdictions and application in policy, including experience with the Fair Work Commission and other relevant bodies
- Strong communication skills and relationship building skills are key as is a commercial orientation
- Effective time management and the ability to manage a number of competing priorities and time sensitive cases
- Previous exposure with the successful implementation of replacement enterprise agreements across organisations
