For more than 30 years, Karuna has provided specialist in-home and community-based palliative care across Brisbane, supporting patients referred by GPs, hospitals, and specialists.
We are seeking a Palliative Medicine Physician / Specialist Doctor to join our respected community service three days per week. You will work alongside our current Palliative Care Specialist as part of a skilled multidisciplinary team delivering thoughtful, relationship-based care in the community.

About the Role
You will provide specialist palliative medicine support to patients receiving care through Karuna's community palliative care service.
The role includes a mix of telehealth consultations, case reviews, and home visits for complex cases.
Our service supports approximately 500 patients annually across the Brisbane North community.
Working collaboratively with GPs, specialists, and the Karuna clinical team, you will contribute to high-quality care planning and symptom management for people living with life-limiting illness.
Key Responsibilities
As a valued member of Karuna's Specialist Palliative Care Service, you will:
* Provide specialist advice on complex symptom management and end-of-life care
* Conduct patient consultations via telehealth, phone, and occasional home visits
* Collaborate closely with treating GPs, specialists, and families to guide care planning
* Support advance care planning discussions and complete Acute Resuscitation Plans where appropriate
* Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews and reflective practice meetings
* Provide clinical guidance to the broader Karuna care team
* Contribute to clinical documentation and care coordination
* Participate in a shared weekend on-call roster (8am–4pm only)
About You
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced clinician with a commitment to patient-centred palliative care.
* Current registration as a Medical Practitioner with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
* Experience caring for patients with life-limiting illness
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills
* Current Queensland driver's licence
* Australian permanent residency or equivalent work rights
Preferred:
* Fellowship in Palliative Medicine (FAChPM) through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians
* Other relevant specialist qualifications or experience in palliative care will also be considered
