About The Role The Manager Data Operations role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the data engineering and reporting platform functions at CoM, including overseeing the development and maintenance of the organisation's data platforms. In this position, you'll empower leaders and the community with the digital tools they need to make evidence-based decisions, while fostering strategic partnerships across CoM and with community stakeholders. As a key driver of transformation, you'll champion the use of data in actionable insights and data-driven recommendations, all while enhancing CoM's reputation as a leader in enterprise data management and open data. In this role, you will Lead an agile team of data specialists to deliver data capabilities to enable business value. Actively engage across the organisation to discover and prioritise data use cases for CoM's data and analytics platform. Support the implementation of data governance including metadata and quality standards. Advise on the design and implementation of data analytics solutions to meet customer requirements. Prioritise council's Open Data Roadmap/pipeline including identifying new data sets and updating current data sets, based on feedback from key internal and external stakeholders. What You Will Bring To The Role Relevant tertiary qualification in IT, computer science/business analytics or equivalent professional experience in data management. Strong understanding of database design and data warehousing principles. Expertise in data analysis techniques and leading teams to generate business insights and value. Proven experience developing corporate data infrastructure, policies, and data governance controls. Skilled in agile project management and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Strong organisational and budget management skills, with attention to detail and ability to manage competing deadlines. Focus on improving internal data capability and culture through engagement and training. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a creative approach to solutions. Experience applying open data in the context of a major city (Desirable not essential).
