About The Role
MERIT (Magistrates Early Referral into Treatment) is a court diversion program that provides the opportunity for suitable local court defendants with drug problems to address their drug use, associated lifestyle and health issues. The role involves engaging with people who are before the court with a history of or current drug use. In a multidisciplinary team you will provide assessment and case management that will help to improve their lifestyle and health in an effort to reduce re‐offending.
Responsibilities
Deliver assessment, case management, and ongoing support to court defendants with alcohol and drug use issues. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans. Facilitate outreach and engagement with clients, offering evidence‐based interventions to improve lifestyle, health, and reduce re‐offending.
Requirements
Registered Nurse, Psychologist, Occupational Therapist (Level 12), Counsellor (Level 1/2), Social Worker (Level 12) with the appropriate qualifications and experience. Must be able to provide evidence of vaccination in accordance with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy (PD2024_015). Health Professionals State Award holders must provide evidence of at least three years of clinical experience to be appointed at Level 2. Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, or able to legally live and work in Australia. A probationary period of six months may apply.
