We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Deputy Principal to join our leadership team and help shape the future of our thriving school community. As the Deputy Principal, you will improve the educational outcomes of students in their schools, develop the quality of teaching and learning and nurture positive relationships between students, teachers, the community and stakeholders.
This is a temporary full-time position commencing 22 January 2026 until 11 December 2026, unless otherwise determined. Avoca State School is situated in the Bundaberg area within the North Coast Region of the Queensland Department of Education, around 300 kilometres north of the Sunshine Coast.

About The Role
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Lead with Vision and Collaboration: Support the Principal in developing, articulating, and sustaining a shared educational vision focused on achieving quality learning outcomes for all students, deputising for the Principal when required.
- Model Ethical and Values-Based Leadership: Uphold the deputy principalship as an ethical, moral, and values-driven role, embedding socially just and inclusive practices across all aspects of school life.
- Drive Excellence in Teaching and Learning: Set and maintain high standards for student achievement and staff performance while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Build Strong Partnerships: Develop and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with parents, community organisations, industry partners, and government agencies to enhance student learning and wellbeing.
- Plan Strategically and Manage Resources Effectively: Take a future-focused approach to leadership, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies while managing people, finances, and facilities to achieve school goals.
