Ascent Pty Ltd is a wholly Australian, veteran-owned company established in 2016. We are a Defence and Security Industry consultancy focused on providing engineering, project management and risk management services to the Department of Defence, Australian Space Agency and Defence Prime Contractors.

Our company directly supports Australian Defence Force platforms across the Land, Maritime and Air domains, as well as the latest guided weapons technology across Defence. This includes the acquisition of new systems, sustainment of in-service weapons and conducting Research and Development in areas of Strategic and National Defence interests.

About The Role

We are seeking expressions of interest from high-level problem solvers and change-makers for opportunities across Australia.

In the Defence and Security space, you will work alongside defence and contractor personnel as part of a team. Your responsibilities may cover some of the following areas:

* You will create or review Engineering Artefacts such as Engineering Management Plans, Test and Evaluation Plans and System Certification documentation within a Defence Regulated Engineering environment.
* You will manage aircraft and unmanned aviation systems in accordance with Defence Aviation Safety Regulations.
* You will facilitate the preparation of Maritime Armaments Review Board (MARB) documentation.
* You will manage and co-ordinate technical and project outcomes.
* You will develop requirements and specifications for new and proposed Defence systems.
* You will test and evaluate Defence Systems.
* You will certify Defence Systems, processes and artefacts.
* You will provide engineering recommendations and advice for briefs and presentations on Defence Systems.
* You will apply 'System Safety' standards and practices.
* You will engage with stakeholders and manage relationships.

About you

We are interested in speaking with exceptional candidates who possess the following qualifications and experience:

* An engineering degree or technical/trades background with at least eight years of experience.
* Australian Defence Force or Australian Public Service experience.
* Current or reinstatable ASGVA clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a minimum NV1 Australian Defence Security Clearance. Eligibility criteria can be found at http://www.defence.gov.au/agsva.
* ITAR regulations apply, and nationality may be a factor in determining suitability.

The following qualifications and experience would be highly regarded:

* Post graduate qualifications in weapons systems, explosive ordnance and associated Defence technologies.
* Experience managing explosives within the Defence and Security Sector or another heavily regulated industry e.g. aviation, nuclear, off-shore oil and gas.
* A high level of knowledge on weapon systems or other complex electro-mechanical systems and related technology.
* Experience in Defence or Government acquisition and sustainment.

You should also have familiarity with:

* Guided and/or non-guided weapons and munitions.
* Defence technical regulatory frameworks.
* Explosive ordnance, materiel management, technical management.
* Certification/integration activities, and GWEO related Land, Sea, and Air operations experience.
