Primary purpose of position

TheEngineering Authorityresponsible for managing theCoastal structures andSeabedassetlifecyclewithin the Ports of Townsville and Lucinda. The role involves assessing the condition and performance ofmarine and port infrastructure, developing renewaland replacementstrategies,planningand executing projects, and ensuring theoptimallifecycle management of assets.TheEngineering Authorityis also responsible for providing technicalexpertiseand support in theearly stagesofmarineasset development projects, primarily focused on the front end of engineering design, involving feasibility studies, concept development, and preliminary engineering activities.TheEngineering Authoritycollaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure thattheassetlifecycle ofportand marineassets is efficiently and effectively managed,aligned withindustry standards, and regulatory requirements,optimisesasset performance, and minimisesthe risk of asset failure.

Position specific responsibilities

* Manageand overseePortmarineassets throughout their life cycle, including acquisition, utilisation, maintenance, and disposal, and analysethe performance of assetstoidentifytrends, patterns, and areas for improvementandto support decision-making related to maintenance programs, performanceoptimisation,capitalprogramsand lifecycle planning
* Developcoastal structure,sea bedand other marine infrastructureasset strategies based on asset condition assessments, performance data, and Portobjectivestomaximiseasset lifespan,optimisecosts, andminimisethe total cost of ownership, in line with the Port's budgetary requirements
* Develop predictive analytics models toidentifypotential asset failures andoptimisemaintenancestrategiesandidentifyrisks associated with asset failure and implement risk mitigation measures tominimisepotential disruptions
* Develop and coordinate the maintenance dredging program of works as a criticalsea bedasset maintenance strategy
* Conductregular inspections and assessments of assets todeterminetheir condition,remaininguseful life, and renewal/replacementneeds
* Develop andmaintainthe Port's Asset Management Plans and associated plans andprograms, andcontribute to the review of the Port's Strategic Asset Management Plan
* Utilise thePort's planning systemsto support asset lifecycle management, including planning for asset renewals, replacements, and disposals
* Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensuretimelyexecution of planned maintenance tasks and effective utilisation of resources
* Conduct feasibility studies and evaluate project requirements, technical constraints, and potential risks.
* Implement quality assurance measures tomaintaindesign integrity and reliability
* Collaborate with stakeholders to develop project scope,objectives, and design criteria
* Prepare and review engineering deliverables, including concept design, process flow diagrams, equipment specifications, and cost estimates
* Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets for asset development projects
* Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and vendors toexecuteassetprojects effectively
* Participate in project meetings, provide technicalexpertise, and address design-related challenges or issues.
* Procure necessary materials, equipment, and servicesrequiredforasset lifecycleactivities.
* Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
* Maintainaccuraterecords and databases related to asset engineeringplanning,developmentand designactivities.
* Identifyopportunities for process improvement, costoptimisation, and efficiency gains in asset management practices.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as operations, finance, and environmental teamsand engage with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, shipping lines, and port users.
* Contribute to the development and enhancement of engineering standards, guidelines, and procedures.
* Contribute to thebusinessunitplanningand budgetingprocessesto ensure proposed programs of work arerisk based,prioritisedand defendable.
