Role Snapshot Support engineering execution of multi-hundred-MW solar and BESS projects across ERCOT and SPP Coordinate design packages, site engineering, OEM specifications and grid interface requirements Drive technical delivery from EPC mobilisation through construction and operational readiness Join a nationally recognised EPC and development platform with high-growth storage ambitions About the Company Our client is a utility-scale renewable energy developer and EPC contractor delivering solar and energy storage infrastructure across the U.S. With over 2 GW of completed projects and a multi-gigawatt backlog focused on Texas and the Midwest, they are one of the most trusted contractors in the utility solar and battery sectors. They operate at the intersection of engineering and construction—with strong in-house capability, mature OEM relationships, and a track record of building bankable, grid-tied systems in complex environments. The Texas team is now scaling to support over 800 MW of active solar and BESS assets under execution in ERCOT and neighbouring markets. About the Role As Project Engineer, you will support the delivery of utility-scale solar PV and BESS projects across the design, procurement, construction and commissioning phases. You’ll act as the primary engineering interface across internal teams, subcontractors, equipment vendors, and field construction staff—ensuring project technical compliance, constructability, and performance. This role sits at the centre of project execution—reviewing single-line diagrams, coordinating IFC drawings, resolving field queries, and validating that system designs meet technical, operational and code requirements. You’ll track deliverables, manage documentation, and support commissioning and turnover procedures. This is a hands-on engineering role with strong cross-functional exposure. It’s ideal for someone looking to deepen their technical delivery experience in a high-growth segment of clean energy infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Support project engineering across all phases—from early design coordination through site mobilisation and construction Review electrical designs, single-line diagrams, and system configurations for PV and BESS systems Coordinate engineering deliverables across EPC teams, design consultants, and equipment suppliers Ensure adherence to code requirements (NEC, IEEE, NFPA) and project-specific grid interconnection standards Participate in design reviews, constructability assessments, and site planning exercises Manage engineering documentation including RFIs, submittals, redlines, and as-builts Support procurement and vendor interface processes—including technical evaluation and spec review Provide technical inputs to commissioning plans, SAT procedures, and performance testing Interface with field engineers and site supervisors to support build-out, troubleshoot design issues, and ensure quality delivery Project & Technical Coverage Utility-scale PV systems (100–300 MW) and co-located BESS (100–200 MW / 200–800 MWh) Standalone and hybrid configurations, AC and DC coupled, across ERCOT and SPP Project phases: preconstruction design coordination, EPC execution, commissioning Technical domains: electrical design, site layout, PCS integration, battery system review, MV and HV interface Interconnection design and documentation, transformer sizing, inverter specification, and cable routing Codes and standards: NEC, IEEE 1547, UL9540, NFPA 855, utility-specific interconnection rules Tools: AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Revit, PVSyst, ETAP (where applicable) Candidate Profile You’re a technically proficient project engineer with direct experience delivering renewable energy or grid-scale electrical infrastructure. You thrive in fast-moving project environments, enjoy working across functions, and know what’s required to get designs built on time, to spec, and ready for commissioning. You bring confidence in reading drawings, identifying conflicts, and supporting EPC execution. Whether you come from an owner’s engineering, EPC or contractor background—you understand delivery, take ownership, and can speak the language of both design and construction. Essential Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering 3–6 years of experience in project engineering for large-scale infrastructure Direct experience in utility-scale solar PV and/or battery storage systems Proficiency in reading and reviewing design drawings, specifications, and BoPs Familiarity with NEC, IEEE, and regional utility interconnection standards Experience coordinating with field teams, construction supervisors and external vendors Strong documentation, communication, and workflow management skills Legally authorised to work in the United States without sponsorship Desirable Experience supporting EPC execution for projects >100 MW Familiarity with substation or interconnection design principles Exposure to battery system integration (AC/DC coupling, PCS, EMS) Technical writing capability for commissioning and test documentation Field experience with electrical QA/QC or issue resolution What’s on Offer Join a project-centric team delivering major clean energy infrastructure across Texas Lead technical execution on large-scale solar and storage projects Competitive compensation, annual bonus, and full benefits Hybrid work model with strong site interface Significant career growth within one of the US’s most active renewable EPCs To explore this opportunity, please email your resume and a brief cover note outlining your: ERCOT market experience and commercial structuring background Project types and counterparties you've negotiated with Exposure to merchant storage, tolling, or hedging contracts For further information or a confidential discussion, contact: Ivan Pignataro Director D’Arcy Weil E: ivan@darcyweil.com solarengineering bess projectdelivery epcprojects texasenergyjobs pvengineering batteryprojects ercot gridscale cleanenergycareers electricalengineering utilityscale dallasjobs
