We are looking for a switched-on Technical Lead who is keen to drive solutions for complex problems individually and in a team-based environment. About the role
* Drive and oversee solution design, performing advanced systems analysis and shaping the technical architecture for complex change initiatives.
* Provide technical leadership, maintaining deep knowledge of relevant tools, platforms, and software packages, and guiding their effective usage across the team.
* Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, product owners, architects, and engineering teams to refine requirements, ensuring solutions meet business goals and align with strategic direction.
* Champion and contribute to the Bank's technology standards, engineering best practices, governance processes, and tool selection—actively shaping and uplifting development frameworks.
* Grow and curate the Developer Knowledge Base, ensuring the team benefits from shared learnings, patterns, and best practices.
* Lead breakdown of development work, including identifying components, defining technical tasks, validating estimates, and ensuring accuracy and feasibility.
* Promote cross‑team collaboration, facilitating alignment across squads, platforms, and dependent systems.
* Drive continuous improvement, identifying pain points, simplifying processes, and fostering innovation in delivery and engineering excellence.
* Guide and review development activities, including hands‑on coding of key components, integration services, and conducting thorough code reviews centred on quality, maintainability, and security.
* Ensure strong automated testing practices, setting expectations for unit and integration test design, maintaining high test coverage, and uplifting the team's testing discipline.
About you
* Expert-level knowledge of Java technologies, including modern frameworks such as Spring Boot, and the ability to mentor others in best practice usage.
* Strong experience delivering on Microsoft Azure and AKS (or equivalent cloud platforms), with the ability to guide cloud native design patterns and operational excellence.
* Skilled in at least one of the following areas (and able to guide others in them):
o Queue-based technologies (e.g., IBM MQ)
o Backend and database-driven application development
o Middleware technologies (e.g., IBM App Connect Enterprise)
o Real-time APIs, microservices, and integration patterns
o Payment system development and ISO messaging standards
o Secure coding, high-availability, and performance-oriented system design
* A curious, accountable, and proactive mindset, with the ability to influence technical direction and elevate the team's engineering culture.
* Proficient with Git, Azure DevOps, and modern development workflows; able to guide branching strategies, CI/CD practices, and automated quality gates.
* Passionate about continuous improvement, driving enhancements to processes, tooling, and engineering practices while helping the team overcome delivery challenges.
