Were seeking a highly capable and hands-on Senior Systems Engineer with deep expertise across the Microsoft technology stack and virtualisation platforms for one of our reputed federal departments.
This role suits someone who thrives in agile environments, enjoys solving complex problems, and is comfortable working remotely within a small, collaborative team.
Your new role
Youll contribute to both BAU and project work, supporting ICT and IT security initiatives from design through to implementation and administration. Key responsibilities include:
- Administering Microsoft 365 Defender (Advanced Threat Protection)
- Deploying infrastructure using Azure Bicep
- Managing Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops and VMWare VDI images
- Automating tasks with PowerShell
- Administering Docker containers
- Implementing ISM or NIST security controls
- Supporting SQL Server, Dynamics 365 (on-prem/cloud), and SharePoint
- Using Jira for task and project tracking
What you'll need to succeed
- Strong experience with Windows Server/Desktop environments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune/SCCM)
- Application packaging and documentation skills
- Solid understanding of DHCP, AD, DNS, Group Policy
- Patch management and Office 365/Azure tenancy administration
- Familiarity with VMWare infrastructure
- Hands-on with Microsoft 365 Defender
- Experience with Azure Bicep, Citrix, PowerShell, Docker, Jira
- Knowledge of ISM/NIST security frameworks
- SQL Server, Dynamics 365, and SharePoint administration.
- Security Clearance Requirements: Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold a minimum of Baseline security clearance (AGSVA). Candidates without the required clearance will not be considered.
- Location: Applicants must be based in either Canberra (ACT) or Sydney (NSW) or Melbourne (VIC) and able to work from the local office a couple of days each week, as the role involves regular collaboration and team interaction
