This is a maternity relief position and should the permanent incumbent require an early return from maternity leave, this contract of employment will cease with two weeks notice. Maternity relief positions can be for a period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of continued employment for up to a further 12 months for maternity leave reduced hours, therefore there are no claims to permanency.

About the Opportunity
As a Midwifery Unit Manager Level 1, you will be responsible for the coordination of patient services, service management, and leadership of midwifery staff within CCLHD Maternity Services. This is a pivotal role where you will influence clinical outcomes, workforce capability, and the overall patient experience.
You will take accountability for ensuring a safe, high-quality healthcare environment while driving innovation, efficiency, and excellence in care delivery.
In this role you will:
* Lead and manage the after-hours operations of the maternity services, ensuring effective patient flow and service delivery.
* Provide strong clinical leadership, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and patient-centred care.
* Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate midwifery care to achieve optimal clinical outcomes.
* Support, mentor, and develop staff through coaching, performance management, and professional development initiatives.
* Support quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with clinical governance frameworks.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to enhance continuity of care.
* Support change management initiatives to improve service delivery and patient experience.

About You
We are looking for an experienced and motivated midwifery leader who is passionate about delivering high-quality care and developing high-performing teams.
You will have:
* Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Midwife (Division 1).
* Extensive post-registration clinical experience in midwifery.
* Demonstrated leadership and management experience within a clinical environment.
* Strong ability to lead, coach, and support multidisciplinary teams.
* Proven commitment to patient-centred care, quality improvement, and clinical governance.
* Experience in implementing or supporting change and improving service delivery and outcomes.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
* Proficiency in computer systems, including rostering and Microsoft applications.
