Corporate Risk Management and Assurance
The City of Darwin is seeking suitably qualified individuals to join its Risk Management and Audit Committee (RMAC). The committee provides independent assurance and assistance to the Council and Chief Executive Officer in matters related to risk management, financial reporting, compliance, auditor performance, and audit programs.
The RMAC consists of four community members, including a Chair, and three Elected Members. Of the community members:
* At least one should be a Certified Practising Accountant or Chartered Accountant.
* At least one should be qualified or have significant experience in risk management.
Key characteristics of committee members include:
* A thorough understanding of the committee's position in the legal and governance framework.
* Relevant personal qualities, skills, and experience within the risk and audit sector.
* Experience in asset management and change management.
* The ability to maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders.
* A robust and considered process of continuous improvement.
The committee meets four times a year and plays a pivotal role in governance, providing Council with independent oversight and monitoring of audit processes and risk management practices.
