Base pay range

$76,912.00/yr - $82,464.00/yr

PSCA, Level 2, $76,912 - $82,464 p.a. plus 12% Superannuation

The Kings Park Science Program undertakes research in native plant biology, underpinning the conservation and ecological restoration of Western Australia's unique biodiversity. Our research is focused on restoration ecology and ecophysiology, seed science, conservation genetics, conservation biotechnology, ecosystem ecology, fire ecology and systematics.
We currently have an opportunity for a Research Technician (Orchid Conservation) to join our team.
Under supervision of the Research Scientist, this position will provide technical support to the orchid conservation research program including data collection supporting research projects; processing, maintenance and incorporation into storage of the ex situ conservation collections of seed and fungi; propagation and maintenance of living collections. This position will support laboratory, glasshouse and extensive fieldwork research and conservation activities in the orchid conservation program.

Selection Criteria
Applicants should address the four (4) following criteria. These should be addressed in no more than four (4) pages in total.

* Relevant experience in the application and use of sterile laboratory techniques for ex situ plant conservation including tissue culture, plant propagation and/or fungal culture.
* Working knowledge and experience in the application and use of ex situ plant conservation techniques including cryogenic storage, biological banking and ex situ living collections.
* Experience in implementing experimental research trials in the laboratory and glasshouse relevant to supporting orchid research and translocation projects.
* Well-developed organisational skills and demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records and collate data across multiple types of plant material and projects and ability to assist with the preparation of technical and scientific reports.
