Key Responsibilities:
* Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders and project teams.
* Enhance and streamline cost control tools, processes, and procedures.
* Provide mentorship and guidance to junior cost control staff.
* Partner with project managers and budget holders to support effective financial oversight.
* Prepare timely and accurate periodic cost reports in consultation with internal teams.
* Coordinate with engineering teams to clarify discrepancies and contribute to risk mitigation strategies.
* Monitor expenditures, analyse variances, and present findings to relevant stakeholders.
* Forecast costs for project line items in collaboration with project teams.
* Assess potential variations and claims from subcontractors and vendors.
* Support ad hoc cost analyses and participate in project review meetings as required.
* Act as a liaison between engineering, accounts, and project teams to ensure financial clarity.
* Recommend process improvements for more effective cost control.
* Build and maintain historical cost databases for future reference.
* Solve complex issues using both technical expertise and business acumen.
* Communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation, adapting messaging to suit diverse audiences.
About You:
* Several years of experience in the cost control function within the Oil & Gas or related process industries, ideally on international, large-scale projects with progressively increasing responsibilities, including team leadership.
* A background in Quantity Surveying is highly regarded.
* Demonstrated expertise in cost control with fully developed technical competencies.
* Capable of establishing and enhancing standards, procedures, and processes.
* Experienced in developing project budgets aligned with standardised structures.
* Skilled in producing accurate cost forecasts to support project management objectives.
* Performs comprehensive variance analysis, including quantities, costs, labour hours, and productivity metrics.
* Ensures the accuracy and quality of deliverables produced by junior team members.
* Strong understanding of estimating methodologies and practices.
* Proficient in reviewing and refining estimates for changes in project scope or trends.
* Thorough knowledge of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) requirements across all project phases.
