Applied research in physiotherapy at the University of Sydney is aimed at improving evidence-based treatment and prevention strategies to improve the lives of people with physical disorders or disabilities. Our academic staff support higher-degree research candidates to develop research expertise. The school is in a period of exciting and significant investment by the Faculty of Medicine and Health. In order to deliver on the University’s ambitious strategic plan, the University is seeking academics who are passionate about improving health outcomes and/or health equity in the local, national and global communities, who are committed to teaching and research, and area team player ready to contribute across the broad field of academic activities. The position offers an opportunity to develop and contribute to research and teaching in physiotherapy as part of a multi-disciplinary team at the Faculty of Medicine and Health. We are looking to onboard a two Lecturers (Education focused, Level B) in a continuing compacity – the incumbent will be located in the Susan Wakil Health building on the Camperdown Campus. To be successful you will have clinical expertise in one or more of the following areas of physiotherapy: musculoskeletal physiotherapy or clinical education. Your key responsibilities include: Developing and delivering educational activities (seminars/lectures, tutorials and assessments), applying current research findings and clinical experience to help prepare students for the workforce Undertaking professional development activities to grow your knowledge of contemporary learning and teaching practices Evaluating your teaching and learning practices and apply learnings to improve practices and outcomes build and maintains a research profile which meets University expectations and standards – including (as appropriate) publication of book chapters/ peer-reviewed journal articles, producing conference/ seminar papers, and generating research income including though applying for competitive grants develop research collaborations which will ultimately result in knowledge or technology transfer leading to commercialisation, improved policy or practice and/or enhancements to industry, the profession or the community commit to activities that support the development of discipline, school, faculty and University maintain active involvement with the profession, professional associations and, as appropriate, community activities, including assisting with the organisation of seminars, conferences and activities. About you: PhD (or near submission) in an academic field relevant to the discipline; clinical qualifications and experience in physiotherapy experience in teaching and learning activities, as evidenced by participation in teaching within an established program or other educational opportunities. Please provide details about your experience in designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives a developing research profile evidenced by original, high-quality and independent research in the discipline or area of expertise Experience undertaking service, leadership, or coordination activities that contribute to the development, quality, or sustainability of your area of practice or professional role Experience in working closely in teams as well as in supervising or mentoring others a developing knowledge and understanding of the key strategic issues in the Physiotherapy profession and higher education sector have a developing network of relationships with key academic, industry, and professional institutions, partners, and stakeholders.
