A Snapshot
As the Associate Director, Electrical Engineer reporting to our Director of Product Management, based in our HQ in Sydney, you will work closely with our development and technology team, making an impact in several ways:
* Responsible for the innovative electrical designs to enhance AirTrunk's engineering solutions that meet AirTrunk's requirements and those of our customers across APAC.
* Manage our suite of engineering documentation that’s used to engage our consultants and contractors.
* Building and ensuring governance throughout the electrical design process of new data centre projects.
* Working closely with external teams including suppliers, design consultants, and utilities customers to ensure AirTrunk's technical design requirements are relevant and industry-leading.
* Working closely with internal teams including the development, design, and operational teams to support in electrical equipment selection, design development, technical issue resolution, and risk mitigation.
* Collaborating with AirTrunk's APJ development and safety teams to drive the safety and quality standards in electrical and building services optimization. You will assist in the design delivery with consultants, general contractors, and internal stakeholders.
* Work closely with industry-leading and highly talented design professionals to shape the future of the AirTrunk data centre product.
Your Day to Day
* Responsible for maintaining our electrical design database that our design, construction, and operations team can reference.
* Develop new processes to improve the delivery of electrical designs across the region.
* Investigate new technologies and integrate these into our design, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders.
* Collaboration with the High Voltage team to ensure seamless integration of electrical data centre infrastructure.
* Interface and present to our customers our new engineering solutions that meet their requirements.
* Work closely with our Masterplanning and Design teams in the development of the concept designs to ensure buildability and equipment selection is optimized.
* Work closely with the internal Cost team to develop cost-efficient designs and understand the commercial implications of engineering decisions.
* Work closely with Product Development to enhance designs of OSE (Owner Supplied Equipment).
* Assist in liaising with power utilities.
* Engage consultants to deliver strategic engineering studies and designs.
* Deliver our internal technical learning and strategic projects.
* Occasionally travel to our Data Centres in APJ to conduct site, design, and opportunity reviews.
Requirements
* Demonstrated 10+ years' electrical or building services design and construction experience (data centre experience is preferred).
* Hold a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s of Engineering (Electrical) from an Australian or equivalent University.
* Experience with designing and/or deciphering electrical protection and grading studies.
* Strong understanding of all engineering disciplines and their interdependencies.
* Incredibly flexible and adaptable to a dynamic fast-paced, collaborative environment.
* Willing to make decisions and be accountable for them.
* Excel at communication with the ability to deliver effective presentations on data centre design to customers, peers, and management.
