Solve the integration of multiple renewable energy generators.
Work with world-class power engineers.
A major greenfield EHV transmission network project.
Job Description
About The Company:
ACEREZ, a consortium of ACCIONA, COBRA and Endeavour Energy, is the appointed Network Operator for the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (CWO REZ). This is a major greenfield EHV transmission network project, the first in a generation. It will integrate 7 GW of renewable projects to a reliable purpose-built network for the benefit of NSW.
• Are you tired of repetitive connection work?
• Do you thirst to understand control methods for the power system?
• Do you long to understand small signal analysis and stability assessment of the system?
• Have you been frustrated with existing power quality practices?
• Do you yearn to develop whole system methods and problem-solving?
A dedicated specialised team of power engineers has been established to solve the integration of multiple renewable energy generators to the planned REZ network, becoming a new Network Service Provider.
Combining their skills, knowledge and power engineering control methods, they are creating a collaborative, problem-solving culture, focused on gaining broader experience and improved engineering practice.
As a greenfield network under design, this is your opportunity to gain knowledge in transmission and network development, integration of control systems, and experience across the full design, delivery and operating life of this exciting project.
About The Role:
Using your skills in power quality analysis software and scripting, you will be working with a specialised team on small signal and frequency domain analysis in world-leading IBR integration methods enabling improved stability and harmonic analysis for holistic network solutions.
You will work independently and proactively on problems but can also collaborate with the team. The focus is to effectively solve whole of network damping filters and reduce the multiplicity of LV filters in the network. You will undertake power quality assessments and frequency domain analysis to set and assess compliance across the new network.
Key aspects of your role will include:
1. Undertaking power quality studies in PowerFactory, analysis in Matlab.
2. Manage power quality data and measurements, prepare regular measurement analysis reports.
3. Integrating and assessing generator frequency domain impedance scan models in PowerFactory.
4. Using python scripts to conduct power quality studies, analyse results and prepare technical reports.
5. Describing from first principles the analysis undertaken.
6. Identify and troubleshoot issues with scripts and software.
7. Evaluate generator power quality compliance with allocated emission limits, analyse and identify remediation recommendations.
8. Collaborate with internal teams to deliver high-quality analyses, feedback and reports.
9. Develop and work on all phases from design, through commissioning to operation.
The role can be based in Wollongong, Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, with a hybrid work environment offered.
About You:
1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or higher), majoring in power and control.
2. Circa 3+ years' experience of power system analysis, power quality analysis, planning or connection studies experience.
3. Experience with PSS/E, PSCAD, or PowerFactory and Matlab.
4. Strong understanding of AS 61000 power quality assessment for generator compliance to flicker and harmonics emission limits, good understanding of voltage unbalance assessment.
5. Proficiency in technical report writing and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts.
6. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
