Role Description
This is a casual, on-site Traffic Controller role based in the Greater Melbourne Area. The Traffic Controller will manage safe and efficient vehicle and pedestrian flow around roadworks and maintenance sites, using appropriate signage, devices, and communication tools. Responsibilities include setting up, monitoring, and packing down traffic control plans; following traffic management procedures; and promptly responding to changing site conditions. The role involves close coordination with site supervisors, crews, and the public to maintain safety standards and minimize disruption. The Traffic Controller will also complete required documentation, conduct pre-start checks on equipment, and adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies.
Qualifications
* Strong traffic operations expertise, including Traffic Control, Traffic Management, and Road Traffic knowledge.
* Effective Communication skills to interact clearly with team members, contractors, and the public.
* Basic Operations Management capabilities, such as following work plans, prioritizing tasks, and supporting site coordination.
* Relevant traffic control accreditation/tickets and knowledge of local road and safety regulations.
* Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and remain alert during long periods on-site.
* Commitment to safety, reliability, punctuality, and professional conduct at all times.
* Current driver's licence and reliable transport; experience in civil construction or roadworks is an advantage.
