The Chief Sonographer is responsible for the daily operational management of patient focused, high quality medical ultrasound services within the Shoalhaven HUB and other sites as required. The Chief Sonographer works at all times to develop and maintain a high quality and clinically appropriate medical sonography service to internal and external referrers, and to their patients and carers.
The Chief Sonographer is also responsible for the provision of high quality training in medical ultrasound for approved trainees enrolled in the ISMI Medical Ultrasound Training Program at the Shoalhaven Hub and other sites as required. To achieve the above, the Chief Sonographer will maintain a multidisciplinary approach with a focus on patient experience while providing the best possible service within available resources. The key focus is on timely and appropriate service delivery and high quality care.
The Chief Sonographer also actively supports the Chief Radiographer and District Imaging Executive in the maintenance and development of quality, patient focused interactions within the Shoalhaven hub and the greater LHD in relation to all radiographic and radiological operational matters.
The Chief Sonographer provides timely and accurate advice on operational and strategic matters affecting local and District service provision in medical ultrasound; particularly relating to clinical service development within the hub, sonographer workforce, and referral patterns.
