ABOUT THE ROLE

Under general direction, the Planning and Development Compliance Officer is responsible for providing high level customer service and promoting compliance relating to planning, building, plumbing, environmental health and local laws.
Employment Status: Full Time, Permanent – Flexible Working Arrangements may be considered for this role
Award: Level 4 of the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream A) Award – State 2017
Salary Range:$90,418.00 to $95,198.00 per annum
ABOUT YOU
The successful candidate will have:
| Essential Knowledge, skills and abilities |
* Substantial experience in investigation and enforcement of Town Planning and Local Laws compliance including knowledge of legal processes and evidence collection as well as comprehensive knowledge of the enforcement process along with well-developed communication and conflict resolution skills.
* Well-developed computer skills including experience in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of applications, specifically Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word as well Adobe Creative Suite and web-based applications.
* Well-developed communication, negotiation and mediation skills both oral and written, including the ability to liaise with a wide range of people and stakeholders.
* Demonstrated high level of customer service skills, both face to face and electronic.
* Knowledge of relevant planning, building, plumbing, environmental protection act and other relevant legislation including Council Local Laws and policies.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a small team in a highly active, deadline-driven environment.
* Ability to work unsupervised, with solid time management and organisational skills.
| Essential Education/Qualifications |
* Tertiary qualifications, or the ability to attain, in urban and regional planning, building, plumbing or Environmental Health related disciplines, and/or significant comparable industry experience.
| Essential Licences |
* Possession and maintenance of a Queensland 'C' Class Driver Licence
| Physical Requirements / Position Environment |
* This position is equally an indoor and outdoor role that requires a sufficient physical ability to work in a shared office setting, driving and walking which may involve long periods in any of the aforementioned.
* This position is required to carry out light to moderate manual handling, bending, kneeling, twisting, squatting, lifting and carrying.
