Clinical Pharmacist Position
This role involves providing clinical pharmacy services to ensure safe, appropriate and efficient drug use within Barwon Health and on return to the community.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure appropriate drug utilization through implementation of hospital policy and formulary guidelines/restrictions, and through liaison with medical, pharmacy and nursing staff.
* Assist team members in delivering a clinical and outpatient pharmacy service
* Ensure all work is complete accurately on time and in accordance with Barwon Health policies and procedures
About the Department:
The Pharmacy Department is staffed by 120 EFT staff across the acute site, the rehabilitation and aged care site and the private hospital. The staffing consists of 76 EFT pharmacists, 6 pre-registration pharmacists and support staff. The Department provides clinical pharmacy services, aseptic and oncology preparation, HITH and outpatient services. A high degree of specialisation exists in clinical pharmacy roles, clinical trials, medication safety, medicines information, antimicrobial stewardship and radiopharmacy.
Research and Education:
The Pharmacy Department is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate pharmacy education and in the medical course at Deakin University. Pharmacy practice research is a focus with local and collaborative projects with universities, particularly Monash University and other healthcare facilities.
