**Environmental Health and Safety Officer**
**72 hours per fortnight/9 day fortnight**
**About Meercroft**:
Meercroft was established in 1889 and we are an autonomous, not for profit organization that provides a Constitution of the Home which is run by a Board of Governance. Meercroft is located at the beautiful bluff precinct in Devonport overlooking the Bass Strait. We provide excellence in the provision of quality permanent and respite care services, Meercroft is a 140-bed facility with approximately 240 staff and we are undertaking a significant redevelopment of the facility which will be completed in 2027
**About the role**:
As the Environmental health and Safety Officer at Meercroft Care Inc, you will work closely with Meercroft leadership team as well as our frontline teams to promote a culture of safe ownership and continuous improvement. The right person will need to have a knowledge and skills to influence and engage a diverse range of employee's, as well as being able to provide and work within the WHS legislation, while having a hands-on approach, a practical mindset and the confidence to achieve results. You will have a proven track record in implementation of WHS and risk framework as well as being able to oversee and conduct audits, manage complaints resolution, incident management and work within the framework set out by the Aged Care Quality & Safety Commissions standards, the Aged Care Act, The Quality of Care Principles and the National Disabilities Services Act.
**Key Responsibilities**:
Lead, collate internal and external audits leading to identification of desirable changes as required
- Drive the implementation of risk management systems
- Manage reportable incidents and ensure timely resolution of complaints
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and align internal processes accordingly
- Ensure Meercroft is complaint in all areas of the organization
- Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator
- Work within the Work Health & Safety Act 2012
- Fair Work Act 2009
- Follow Work Safe Tas Acts and Regulations
**Qualifications**:
**Essential**
- Diploma in Workplace Health and Safety (minimum)
- Certificate IV in Compliance and Risk Management (or willing to obtain)
- Demonstrated experienced in Frontline Management and or similar
- Current Motor Vehicle license
- Criminal history Check and Working with Vulnerable Persons cared with NDIS endorsement
