Job Details
Role – Mechanical Design Engineer (R&D/Prototyping)
Salary – $100,000 – $110,000 per annum, dependent on experience
Type – Permanent
Location – Sydney, NSW
Qualifications
* At least 2 years of experience in a similar Mechanical Design Engineering position
* Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
* Highly skilled with 3D CAD, ideally Inventor, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, etc.
* Strong practical skills with R&D, prototyping, testing, FEA, hand calculations, verification and validation
* Proven ability to take a product all the way from concept through to manufacture
* Previous experience working with a variety of materials including sheet metal, machined parts, and injection‐molded plastics
* Good theoretical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
* Able to manage projects and work to deadlines and budgetsAble to maintain technical documentation and BOM entry
* Able to work well individually as well as part of a team
Responsibilities
* Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
* Managing the full product lifecycle from concept to production
* Collaborating with different departments to ensure the smooth delivery of projects
* Liaising with manufacturing providers
* Being involved in final assembly
* Creating required documentation for design and project reports
* Updating 3D models and drawings
* Inputting parts into the MRP system and creating BOMs
* Checking drawings for sign off
* Working in a small, multi‐disciplinary team on varied projects
