Job Title: Public Safety Officer
The Police Security Officer is a vital role in ensuring the security and protection of government assets.
* Main Responsibilities:
* Provide first response to security incidents, operate and monitor alarms, CCTV, and emergency telephone systems;
* Conduct static, foot, and mobile protective security duties, including operating security equipment according to duty statements;
* Prepare reports and provide statements for evidentiary purposes;
* Assist with the induction and training of other members;
* Engage with stakeholders to ensure excellent customer service;
* Monitor and report any breaches of security;
* Maintain proficiency in systems and databases as required;
* Keep accurate records and logs as per policy requirements;
* Provide safe custody services for persons detained in police facilities;
* Transport and guard persons detained in lawful custody;
* Support vulnerable persons by providing secure conveyance;
* Offer frontline services related to security of places and property to support sworn police officers.
Key Requirements:
* Australian or New Zealand Citizenship or permanent residency is necessary;
* Criminal history check will be conducted;
* Shift work is mandatory (24/7);
* Intrastate travel may be required;
* Participation in SAPOL's iEngage Individual Performance Management program is expected;
* Compliance with the Code of Conduct prescribed in the Police Act 1998 and the Police Complaints and Discipline Act 2016 is essential.
Training and Development:
The Police Security Officer Qualification Program includes a combination of classroom instruction and on-the-job training with experienced staff at the Police Academy and other locations.
Remuneration:
$67,589 plus annual allowance of $2,394.80 upon completion of training, plus shift penalties and overtime.
