Melbourne Pathology is one of Victoria’s largest diagnostic pathology laboratories, committed to providing a high quality healthcare service to our clients, 24 hours a day/7 days a week throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. 
Position description 
An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic, qualified and highly motivated Medical Scientist to join our dynamic Chemical Pathology Department located in Collingwood. 
This is a full-time position (38 hours per week). Shifts are varied as the department operates 24 hours a day/7 days a week, participation in weekend and evening rosters, including public holidays, is required. 
In this role you will 
- Interpret, verify and authorise patient results 
- Perform maintenance, trouble-shooting and sample testing on laboratory instrumentation 
- Analyse, review, action and troubleshoot quality control results 
- Assist in staff training 
The successful applicant will have 
- A minimum of three years’ experience in a chemical pathology diagnostic laboratory with Australian industry experience 
- An AIMS-accredited university degree in Medical Laboratory Science (or equivalent) 
- Knowledge of quality assurance systems and scientific instrumentation/equipment in a pathology laboratory 
- The ability to work as part of a busy team and independently 
- Good problem-solving skills with an ability to multitask 
- Ability to prioritise and manage workflow, with focus on clinically significant issues 
- Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills 
- Awareness of laboratory occupational health and safety issues
