Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Senior Botanist located in the Greater Newcastle Area. The Senior Botanist will perform fieldwork and contribute to botanical surveys, plant identification, and vegetation mapping. The role also involves analyzing ecological data, preparing detailed biodiversity and vegetation assessments, and providing expert guidance on conservation and land management strategies. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with clients, mentoring team members, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

Qualifications

Strong expertise in Botany, Plant Identification, and understanding of various vegetation communities.

Extensive experience conducting fieldwork and ecological surveys, with the ability to identify flora and assess biodiversity in diverse ecosystems.

Proficiency in Ecology and vegetation dynamics, including knowledge of conservation strategies and ecosystem connectivity.

Excellent analytical, research, and reporting skills, with the ability to interpret complex systems and legislation.

Proficiency in mapping tools and innovative technologies such as GIS, drones, and 3D visualization is highly desirable.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with clients and team members effectively.

Bachelor\'s or advanced degree in Botany, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.

Familiarity with the Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM) and Australian environmental regulations is a significant advantage.
