About your role As a Safety Ambassador, you will support safe, calm and recovery-focused environments across mental health inpatient units.
Working alongside clinical teams, you will play a key role in preventing and responding to occupational violence.
Key responsibilities: Build respectful, supportive relationships with consumers, visitors and staff.
Engage in proactive rounding to maintain situational awareness and promote safety.
Assist with de-escalation using calm, person-centred communication.
Contribute to incident response and support physical restraint when required and appropriate.
Identify early signs of escalation and escalate concerns to clinical staff.
Participate in team briefings, debriefings and behaviour management planning.
About you You are calm under pressure, people-focused, and confident in engaging with individuals experiencing distress or behavioural escalation.
You will bring: Ability to follow procedures and safety guidelines in dynamic environments.
Strong negotiation and verbal de-escalation skills.
Effective interpersonal communication and relationship-building abilities.
Ability to document shift activity and communicate clearly with leaders.
Professionalism, integrity and commitment to wellbeing for yourself and others.
Knowledge/experience in occupational violence prevention and utilizing dynamic risk assessments as well as de-escalation techniques within a dynamic environment (highly desirable).
Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and public holidays.
