Python Engineer - Real-Time Distributed Systems
Remote - Australia-based onlyFull Australian work rights requiredSalary negotiable to $150k + Super + Performance Bonus
Engineering Without Theatre
We design and operate low-latency, distributed systems that ingest real-time data, execute automated logic and manage risk in fast-moving electronic markets.Performance is measurable.Failure is visible.Correctness will build and operate production systems that run continuously under real-world constraints. This is core infrastructure, not feature churn.
What You'll Do
Build high-performance Python services supporting real-time workflowsDesign and optimise event-driven data pipelines with strict latency targetsDeploy and operate containerised services in production across public cloud environmentsBuild internal tools, APIs and dashboards used by technical stakeholdersImprove CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks and release safetyMonitor live systems and resolve production issues methodicallyWrite clean, well-tested and well-documented codeOwnership is end-to-end. If it runs in production, you care about how it behaves.
Technology Environment
You'll be working primarily in Python within a containerised, Kubernetes-based environment deployed across major public cloud systems rely on:Event-driven messaging and streaming architecturesRelational and time-series data storesInfrastructure-as-code and Git-based deployment workflowsProduction-grade monitoring and alerting toolingWe operate real-time services with strict latency and reliability expectations, so performance tuning and observability are part of everyday engineering.
Core Requirements
4+ years professional Python development experienceStrong understanding of distributed systems and concurrencyExperience operating containerised workloads in productionHands-on experience with public cloud infrastructureExperience building or running real-time or high-throughput systems
