- Competitive remuneration package up to $161,711 p.a. (package includes salary between $129,464 - $142,665 p.a., plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading)

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a strategic and collaborative Senior Finance Business Partner to support the delivery of high-quality financial management across the State Library of NSW. Reporting to the Head of Finance, this pivotal role will drive financial planning, analysis, and advisory services that underpin the Library’s operational and strategic goals.

You will work closely with Directors and Managers to lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes, while also contributing to capital planning, business case development, and funding submissions. As a trusted advisor, you will help shape financial strategies that support innovation, efficiency, and long-term sustainability.

Some key responsibilities:

- Lead the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial reports in partnership with business units.
- Provide strategic financial advice to support operational planning, asset acquisition, and capital investment.
- Develop and implement financial strategies that optimise resource allocation and revenue generation.

The Ideal Candidate

You are a proactive and solutions-focused finance professional with a passion for public sector excellence. You bring:

- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, or Accounting, and full membership of CA or CPA.
- Demonstrated experience in financial leadership, preferably within government or cultural institutions.
- Strong understanding of public sector financial frameworks, compliance, and reporting standards.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and communicate complex financial concepts clearly.
- Experience managing external service providers and performance agreements.
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to building financial capability across diverse teams.

Talent Pool

Eligibility to apply

To be eligible to apply for this role you must be either;

- an Australian citizen or
- a permanent resident of Australia, or
- a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand passport or a citizen of another country with an appropriate visa that allows you to work in Australia for the period of temporary employment or if you are seeking ongoing employment, you must hold a permanent visa that allows you to work in Australia.
- Appointment to this role is subject to Pre-employment Checks. Additional checks may be required throughout your tenure at the Library should the accountabilities of your role change.
