This position qualifies for a Recruitment Incentive Package up to $10,000 (pro-rata for part-time/temporary positions < 18 months) and a recurring Annual Retention Bonus up to $10,000 (pro-rata part-time) under NSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme. The scheme recognises the role of health workers in delivering rural and remote health services and provides incentives to attract and retain staff beyond award entitlements.

Responsibilities
- Work 8-hour solo shifts (7-7) in the maternity ward of the Broken Hill Hospital.
- Provide care for admitted antenatal/postnatal/special care nursery babies.
- Be the second midwife at a birth and provide support and mentorship to students and junior midwives.
- The MGP midwives are on-call to come in for intrapartum care and assist on the ward if required.
- Collaborate with consultant locum obstetricians and a close-knit, supportive team, inclusive of BMids, recent graduate midwives and students.

How To Apply
To be considered, address the selection criteria thoroughly:
- Current midwifery registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Ability to roster on 8-hour shifts as a solo Core Midwife on the ward, with senior Midwifery clinical support during admissions, labour and birth.
- Demonstrated application of professional and ethical boundaries in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Application of evidence-based practice and critical thinking to deliver individualised person-centred care.
- Competence in antenatal, labour, birth and postnatal care, lactation and infant feeding with effective escalation and emergency Midwifery care.
- Ability to interact with a multidisciplinary team in a professional manner and resolve conflicts.
- Commitment to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients, families and staff to improve health outcomes.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and share expertise with colleagues.
