Are you passionate about making a difference in remote and regional communities?

Yawarda Services Ltd is an Aboriginal-led charity strengthening healing, social and emotional wellbeing, leadership and connection to Country for Aboriginal children, young people, families and communities. Our program uses connection with horses to build trust, resilience, leadership and coping skills.

Due to program expansion, we are seeking a Senior Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) Practitioner and four Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) Practitioners to deliver culturally grounded, trauma-informed programs.

Working in a structured equine environment, you will facilitate sessions that strengthen confidence, emotional regulation, cultural identity and connection to community.

The Senior EAL Practitioner is a leadership role responsible for cultural leadership, therapeutic facilitation, supervision of practitioners and program accountability.

The EAL Practitioner position/s requires a willingness to undertake Aboriginal Equine Assisted Learning Foundation Training if not already qualified. Local Broome and Kimberley Aboriginal applicants with strong community connections are strongly encouraged to apply as local knowledge and long-term community engagement are highly valued.

Aboriginal Identified Roles This is an Aboriginal Identified position under Section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA).

Key Responsibilities

EAL Senior Role (1)

* Leads EAL sessions independently
* Supervises and mentors EAL Practitioners
* Coordinates scheduling and workflow
* Ensures WHS, Child Safety & Animal Welfare compliance
* Contributes to reporting and evaluation
* Exercises high autonomy
* Identified Aboriginal role

EAL Practitioners Roles (4)

* Facilitates individual & group sessions
* Maintains participant records
* Communicates with families/services
* Performs stable & horse care duties
* Complies with WHS & safety protocols
* Works under supervision
* Identified Aboriginal Role
About You

You are culturally grounded, confident and compassionate with a commitment to support Aboriginal children and young people to thrive. You are confident around horses, have a calm and professional presence, and the ability to work safely in dynamic environments.

You value teamwork, accountability, child safety and animal welfare, and are committed to maintaining high professional standards.

This role involves manual handling, outdoor work in varying weather conditions, and physically active duties. Applicants must be able to carry out these tasks safely.

For Senior EAL Practitioner applicants, completion of the Aboriginal Equine Assisted Learning Foundation Training and demonstrated experience leading or mentoring others is essential.

All applicants must hold a WA driver's license, Police Clearance, and a WA Working with Children Check (or be willing to obtain one).
