Position Overview
This position is within the Corporate Services Division, Finance Branch. Corporate Services handles functions including procurement, risk management, property management, financial accounting, management accounting, and human resource management.
This role is within the small, high-performing Governance, Risk, and Compliance Team. Responsibilities include:
1. Risk management – assisting, coordinating, and overseeing all risk management activities.
2. Business continuity and disaster recovery planning, including insurance requirements and international travel insurance.
3. Acting as the primary contact for the outsourced internal audit provider.
The key duties include:
Major Activities
The Assistant Director Risk and Audit is responsible for:
- Risk Management: Developing and maintaining the Courts' Risk Management Framework and Risk Register, and promoting risk management activities.
- Business Continuity and Insurance: Developing and reviewing business continuity plans, managing insurance premiums, and liaising with insurance providers.
- Internal Audit: Managing internal audit services, developing audit plans, and facilitating audit reviews.
Qualifications and experience required include managing risk and audit functions, with excellent communication skills. Experience in a Court environment is advantageous but not mandatory.
Competencies & Attributes
- Experience in risk and audit management, aligning policies with best practices.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with strong communication skills.
- Experience in a Court environment is preferred but not essential.
Formal Qualifications
Attainment of a Certificate IV (or equivalent) in Risk Management is desirable.
Selection Criteria
- Experience in business continuity and risk management.
- Experience in internal audit planning and facilitating audit meetings.
- High-level communication skills for advising stakeholders.
Eligibility
- Australian citizenship.
- Security and character clearance, including a Police Records Check.
- Health clearance, if required.
